Sermon Snap Shot September 15, 2019

Thanks to Vernita Brown for challenging us to leave the comfort and safety of the boat (church) – even in the midst of the storm (today’s crazy world) – to answer Jesus’ call to “Come” and engage the racism and injustices of our day. She left us all with the following “homework” as a practical application to guide our future:
I, ________________ (name), as a ______________ (race, gender, place in society, position of leadership or influence), am going to demonstrate justice as an outworking of my faith by ______________ (list action(s)). When conflict arises or it feels too hard, I will _____________ (action) rather than _____________ (default action). My plan to stay accountable is to ________________ (action or accountability partner).
From Sunday, September 15 message based on Matthew 14:22-33, “The ABCs of Faith…and Life: “S” as in “Sent”
Rev. Lane Glaze
Pastor, Waters Edge UMC
