Sermon Snap Shot February 23, 2020

My favorite biblical character is Barnabas, who is found in the Book of Acts. His name means “One Who Encourages.” I believe he could be Mister Rogers’ ancestor, because of his gift for encouraging others.
The Apostle Paul never would have been accepted by the early church had not Barnabas vouched for his conversion experience. He later had to bring Paul out of exile to accompany him to visit and establish churches. Finally, they parted company when Barnabas wanted to give a second chance to John Mark, who had left the ministry at one point.
As Mister Rogers said, “As human beings, our job in life is to help people realize how rare and valuable each one of us really is, that each of us has something that no one else has – or ever will have – something inside that is unique to all time. It’s our job to encourage each other to discover that uniqueness and to provide ways of developing its expression.”
