Sermon Snap Shot December 29, 2019

Friends, part of the Good News of Christmas is that God doesn’t leave Mary, Joseph and Jesus on an island all by themselves. No, as the Holy Couple seeks to “do right” by God in raising their Son to claim his call and identity, God puts people in their path like Simeon and Anna to affirm, to teach, to encourage, to strengthen and to guide them in their journeys.
And God promises to do the same for me and you: putting people in our lives – sometimes for a short season, sometimes for decades – to help us in our journeys. Not only does God come to be with us (Immanuel) at Christmas but God promises to surround us with others as well.
From Sunday December 29 message based on Luke 2:21-38, “The Good News of Christmas: God Gives Us Spiritual Guides and Friends for the Journey”

Rev. Lane Glaze
Pastor, Waters Edge UMC
