04 Jan 40 Days of Prayer
Happy New Year! With a two-inch snowfall in early January the new year is shaping up to be a unique one. As a native of the Lowcountry, I can’t remember ever seeing this much snow here. Be safe and stay warm!
As we kickoff 2018, I want to invite you to join me in a 40-day challenge. No, I’m not talking about the Season of Lent (which begins on Valentine’s Day this year) – I’m talking about a challenge that will involve the forty days prior to Lent.
In late November we heard a report from a small group of folks who, after reading Mark Batterson’s book The Circle Maker, had been praying about our church’s future as they walked our 10-acre property. As they sought to hear God’s voice, they meditated over the question, “How are we being called to share God’s love with others?”
Their reflections are captured in the word cloud above. The two conclusions that they reached included (1) the need to invite others into this process and (2) the need to create a more accessible path around the property.
With the latter goal now completed (including new signage and several benches on the trail), I am writing to invite you to participate in this journey of prayer and discernment about the future. The only stipulation is that you commit, from January 5th – February 13th, to set aside time each day to pray about this question:
love on these 10 acres?
Let me know if you have any questions and if you plan to participate. I want to keep the group in my prayers. God is good!
