Sermon Snap Shot June 11, 2017

For years now I have preached a Gospel that goes something like this: We were all created by this good God who is about creating good things, but somehow early on things went awry… and God’s original plan for us and all of creation was derailed. Ever since, God has been at work to make things right, and the Bible contains this unfolding story. It is the story of God’s never-ending attempts to make his love, his ways and his purposes known to us. And as we look at the arc of Scripture – from Genesis to Revelation, what I like to call THE Story – we see God at work to heal, to reconcile and to re-create the world as it was meant to be.
And if we call ourselves Christian…if we claim to share in the covenant of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob as interpreted by and fulfilled in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus…then this book of 66 books is our book. This Story is our story. And the journey of faith, from cradle to grave, is a journey of discovering our story in the midst of THE Story.
